At the beginning of this project, each of us individually researched two problems that the world had. We pooled all six of the problems we had researched as a group, and chose three to develop solutions for. We developed one solution each for two of the problems, and three for the other one. Then, we made a poster detailing our three solutions to the main problem, and did a gallery walk with the whole class to get feedback. After getting feedback, we chose one solution to work on, and fully examined in. This project culminated in presenting our solution to a group of experts, and our classmates, using a presentation that can be seen below.
Concepts Used:
Biotechnology: Biotechnology, or biotech for short, is using biology to manipulate natural processes to accomplish your goals. This can involve genetic manipulation, but does not have to.
Volume of Cylinders: This is an equation used to find the amount of space a cylinder takes up, in units cubed. The formula is V=H(π)R^2, Where H is the height of the cylinder, and R is the radius.
CAFS: CAFS stands for Compressed Air Foam System, which is the what our grenade used to extinguish fires. The principle of a CAFS is to improve various qualities of water, in order to improve it's ability to fight fires. A CAFS first mixes the water with a foam concentrate to make a foam solution, then aerates that solution into foam.

Reflections:
In the final project of my sophomore year, I did some things well. One of those things was accepting other ideas. I had my own solution to combat wildfires, but I recognized that the group wanted to use a different idea, and didn't fight against the change. Another thing I did well was working hard. At many points, I could have gotten away with just pretending to work, but I did not take the opportunities that arose, and our project was better for it. There are some things I didn't do well, however. One of those things was keeping my team focused. I am not great at leadership, and it showed in this project, with my group members frequently going off-task. In the future, I could combat this by being louder and more insistent. Another thing I failed at was understanding exactly what needed to be done. At many points in this project, I felt incredibly unsure about what was required of me. This problem could be fixed if I asked more questions.
